Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail

Background and History

The high speed railway corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad aims at improving connectivity between Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra and Ahmedabad, a metropolis in Gujarat. It is the first bullet train corridor to be implemented in India. On 12 Dec. 2015, the ministry of railways announced that Shinkansen technology would be applied for the project.

    • Project Title : Consulting Services for the project of “Provision of T&C Services and Advisory Services for construction of Track Works for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project”

      • The performance of the Consulting Services commenced in January 2023 and shall be completed on or before October 2026

    Background and History

  • Japan Railway Technical Service (JARTS) signed the MOU in April 2021 with National High Speed Rail Corporation for the "Provision of Training &Certification-T&C Services and Advisory Services for Construction of Track Works for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project.
  • JARTS is nominated by JICA (Funding agency for MAHSR) for imparting the training though Japanese experts in relevant field.
  • The training and certification will be provided by T&C Agency for imparting adequate knowhow concerning the slab track work of Shinkansen technology based on Japanese HSR practices and regulations.

    • Services Provided

  • Consortium of Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd and Oriental Consultants India Pvt. Ltd. is providing consulting services to JARTS for co-ordination and supporting services for successful implementation of the T&C Services.
  • Temporary Training Facility is established at Surat Depot in Gujarat State of lndia under T-2 Package of MAHSR
  • First course of training has been successfully started from April 2023.
